Kate Rooney
Kate Rooney is a licensed Realtor at Gustave White Sotheby's International Realty in Newport, Rhode Island. Kate began her real estate career in 2013 with an initial focus on rentals to establish her portfolio. She soon transitioned to become a coastal and investment property specialist working with buyers and sellers while serving investors.
Kate's goal of unwavering dedication to her client's needs and interests has led to solid and long-lasting professional and personal relationships. She is diligent and prefers to stay active: listening to her clients while performing extensive research and staying well-versed in the local market trends. As a team player, she appreciates the collaborative environment of the Gustave White Sotheby's International Realty office. She believes her clients are ultimately the ones who benefit most from such a cooperative and engaged brokerage.
Born into a multi-generational Newport family deeply rooted in hotel acquisitions and management, as well as restaurant and property procurement, she grew up on Easton's Point in Middletown in the house her great-grandfather built and her parents still occupy. Her love of local real estate, historic architecture, and interior design was established at an early age.
Kate went to secondary school at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, RI, and graduated with a B.A. in Business and Marketing from the University of Vermont. She lived in San Francisco, CA working for global real estate investment firm, Hines, married her husband Stephen, bought their first property, adopted their rescued dog, and welcomed their son all before returning to the place she calls 'home' in 2009. Kate enjoys sharing her experience with clients relocating to the area.
Kate lives in Middletown, RI, with her husband and two children, Jack and Lucy. She plays an active role in their school, St. Michael's Country Day School, and co-chaired the 'Neighborhoods of Newport' house tour in 2020. She is also an advocate for Aquidneck Land Trust to ensure green space throughout the island for generations to come. Kate is an avid runner, a "wannabe golfer," a fixture on the sidelines of her kids' sports games, and enjoys cooking and entertaining for family and friends.
